Studio Vaneau – Paris

On rue Vaneau, in the 7th arrondissement, this apartment belongs to a family of true Parisians who have remained deeply attached to their city. They now live in Madrid, and their four children have grown up and left home, so they wished to turn it into their pied-à-terre: a place to rest whenever they return to Paris, with the calm of a hotel suite and the warmth of a family home.

Maison Aurelys redesigned the apartment from top to bottom. The walls were repainted throughout, the kitchen was entirely redone, and the layout was rethought for two: the wall between the two former bedrooms came down to create a generous master bedroom with its own study.

The apartment opens onto a canopy of trees. When the sun filters through the leaves, a golden light settles on every surface, echoed by a palette of sage and olive, honey-toned wood, brass and soft ivory. Each piece was chosen to be both useful and beautiful, true to the philosophy of Maison Aurelys: interiors where simplicity, beauty and sincerity meet.

At the entrance, the kitchenette, entirely redone, is treated like a piece of furniture: oak fronts by Bocklip, open shelving and a brass tap, set against the Poppy Emerald wallpaper by Coordonné. Alongside, a desk that doubles as a dining table is lit by the Josie opalescent glass wall light from Westwing, with Sita mango wood stools from La Redoute, sculptural enough to be admired and light enough to move from room to room.

« Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful. »

— William Morris, English designer and pioneer of the Arts and Crafts movement

In the living area, the Odna convertible sofa from La Redoute opens into a double bed for guests. Beside it, the Evy nesting tables by Miliboo pair white marble with solid mango wood, while the Josie floor lamp from Westwing scatters soft touches of colour through its opalescent glass globes. On the table, the Artisan N°5 vase by Jars Céramistes holds a loose bouquet of fresh flowers.

From the living area, the eye travels into the new master bedroom, which doubles as a study: by the window stand a desk with cane-fronted drawers, a cane-back chair and a brass reading lamp. The sliding door between the two spaces is the one that once closed a cupboard on the kitchen side: reusing it rather than buying new kept the décor coherent and the budget in check.

Two paintings frame this view, one in each room. They come from the owners' own private collection, gathered over their years abroad, and bring a vivid, deeply personal note of colour.

In the bedroom, the Ronda headboard from La Redoute wraps the bed in a softly textured fabric, outlined with a fine black piping that adds a tailored touch. A Sita stool in mango wood serves as a bedside table, topped by the Le Fer Lisbon lamp by It's about RoMi in a soft sand shade, while the Poppy Emerald wallpaper from the entrance returns on one wall, linking the rooms like a quiet refrain.

As evening falls, a single candle is enough to bring the apartment to life — a reminder that, at Maison Aurelys, light is always the finishing touch.

This candleholder is Bellflower, from Lumière Sauvage, the first Maison Aurelys collection. It found a natural place against the Poppy Emerald wallpaper. Each piece is hand-shaped from porcelain in Montreal, then finished with 22-carat gold, applied by hand with a fine brush, so no two are alike. Discover Bellflower → Collection
